Dr. Gustafson is a board-certified specialist in oncology. She is originally from Dallas, Texas. She attended Tufts University for her undergraduate degree in biochemistry then completed her veterinary degree at Texas A&M University. She also received a Ph.D in cancer research. After graduation, she completed a one-year general internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York, a one-year oncology internship at the Animal Cancer Care Clinic in Fort Lauderdale and then a 3-year oncology residency at Michigan State University and Colorado State University Flint Animal Cancer Center. She has practiced as a specialist in oncology in South Florida since 2015. She has an interest in feline lymphoma and transitional cell carcinoma.
